What to Expect

Our Adoption Process

You've just made the best decision of your life...adopting a furry friend from us! But now what? Our adoption process is a walk in the park - actually, it's even easier than that. Your new BFF will be bouncing into your home in no time!

01  First Steps

Fill out an adoption survey here to get started. One of our staff members will be in contact with you via phone or email within 24 hours.

02  Let’s Chat

We strongly believe in open adoptions, meaning we’ve removed unnecessary barriers for adopters (such as vet/reference checks or home visits). Each adopter is an individual in our eyes. We strive to get to know people to make the best match possible for them and our dogs.

03  Visiting the Farm

After you’ve spoken with us about your lifestyle and what you’re looking for in a dog, we’ll then set up an appointment for you to visit the farm. Since we are not open to the public, appointments can be scheduled every day between 9am-3pm.

04  The Appointment

Now for the best part, meeting the dogs! Our staff will introduce you to your potential match(es) at our indoor training center. We’ll go over everything that we’ve learned about them while in our care. If you already have a dog in your life, we can introduce them to our dog in a stress-free environment in one of our fenced yards.

05  The Logistics

Our dogs come from shelters and rescues across the country. They are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on necessary vaccines. We spend quality time with our dogs and put them in unique situations to learn as much about them as possible. While we do not charge an adoption fee, we welcome donations to further help us achieve our goal of bringing dogs and people together.

06  The Verdict

After you’ve spent time with the dog you’re interested in and it seems to be a good match on both ends, you can take home your new BFF the same day. If it doesn’t seem to be the right fit for either of you, then that’s okay! We’ll keep you in mind if we have a candidate for you in the future. We want to make sure to set everyone up for success, both human and canine!

Contribute to a cozier stay

Have you heard about our awesome senior dog program? It’s a great initiative that gives senior dogs in shelters a cozy place to stay while we look for their new home.  We are always in need of help with things like medical costs, specialized senior dog food, cozy blankets, and toys.  So if you happen to have a little extra cash lying around, why not donate to our Old Friends? It will put a smile on a dogs face, trust us; we’ve seen it first hand. Not to mention its just plain good karma, and who doesn’t love good karma? Come on, help us make a difference in the lives of these senior dogs!

Our
dogs are individuals

The majority of shelter dogs in the United States are mixed breed dogs of unknown parentage. Shelters typically use visual breed identification (based only on physical appearances) to assign a breed to the dogs in their care. Visual breed identification has been proven inaccurate and unreliable by science. Unless a dog comes with pedigree papers or is the known offspring of two registered purebred dogs, we don’t make guesses about what breed they are.

What a dog looks like tells us nothing about their behavior or personality, so it is much more appropriate to see each dog as an individual.
